Switch your Criminal Lawyer before it is too Late

Switching your lawyer is an unusual experience that might arise due to several factors like
bad or no communication. When your calls remain unanswered till 48 hours or if answered
you happen to talk to different lawyers then it is quite hard to believe that your lawyer is an
appropriate choice. I don't think you would like it when he will display his inability to solve
various aspects or meet important deadlines.

In either of the above situations, you should immediately eliminate your relationship with the
current lawyer provided you have already another one ready to sort out your legal worries. I
would suggest you consider few parameters to ensure switching the lawyer isn't another cause
of worry. Although opting a new lawyer mid-case can be costly so go for it if it's a worth.

Two parameters things to be considered during the change:
  • Do you agree with retainer of your new lawyer and  what will be the cost.
  • How much time &effort will be consumed by new lawyer to boost the speed of your case.

Common warning signs that will tell you to change your criminal lawyer before it is
too late

Communication:
Communication between you and lawyer is the key. Lawyer should not simply make you feel
confident about case with his efforts but should also be able to acknowledge when anything is
beyond his legal glossary.

Understanding:
Doesn't matter how busy your attorney is because it is his primary responsibility to explain
every aspect of your case with the progress report after all he is being paid for the same. This
will help you know your case is in which phase like litigation, pleading stage, discovery stage
or the final trial.

Speed of your case:
It is necessary to know how fast is your case moving and is it in the right direction or not. If
you often find that hearings or depositions are being rescheduled for later dates and your
lawyer is unable to explain this to you  then it is a red flag on his credibility.
